It is exciting to see that Galimoto will be on library shelves in Malawi. I lived in Malawi as a Peace Corps volunteer and I wrote that book about a child in Malawi over 30 years ago. I know how important it is for children to see themselves in books and I hope this story will resonate with kids who can now find it in their own library.
It is a pleasure to send several copies of Galimoto and other books I have written to the African Library Project. But you don’t have to be an author to help send books to Africa. And kids don’t just want books about themselves. Reading gives kids a way to know the world.
See more about this initiative below and consider donating through the GoFundMe site listed there. You may even want to start a book drive through your school or church. Join me in supporting this important organization.

We are working with the African Library Project to provide books to eager readers in Africa who have very few books. Please help us by collecting and delivering gently used books or by raising money to help pay for shipping to Africa. It takes only 1000 books and $500 (plus a little elbow grease!) to start a single library and make a huge difference in children’s lives.
