Teddy Draper Sr. was forbidden to use his native Navajo language at boarding school but when he is drafted into WW II he is asked to use that language in a code that helps to win the war in the Pacific arena. Teddy vows that if he ever gets home alive he will use what he has learned to teach young Navajo children so their language can live on.
