This little book just keeps making friends and inspiring readers.  See what one reader has to say:

Dear Karen,
My name is Benjamin. I realize that this may be somewhat out of the ordinary, but I felt inspired this evening to contact you to share this song I wrote many years ago that was inspired by your book about Galimoto that I read during my childhood. It felt right and appropriate to inform you, the author that this bit of art was out in the world, inspired by your work and how it nested in my soul.
I’m sending you the raw, imperfect recording I made in 2016. It’s one of my very favorite pieces I’ve written, but I’ve never recorded it properly. One day I’ll do the song justice with a more professional recording.
Thank you for your art. It made a lasting impression.

Imagine the joy such a  tribute gives this this writer!  Readers all over the world have written to me about how they have made galimotos inspired by the book.  They have written their own stories about Galimoto and they  have sent me pictures.  And now a song!  Thank you Ben.  I look forward to the recording.  You have filled my soul.  You song keeps me writing.

I’ve plied this single wire,

about a month,

and it’s rather malleable now
The bottom quarter fell,
twisted too much give, it gave until it gave up
Still got a foot or two to work with
To make a fine mobile, one must bide the hours bending wire
and time spent living with it
To turn the wire around,
and around itself, and threading like a seamstress, angling like a sculptor
You ply the wire, it bends
that’s not enough, it has to breathe somehow
There is – an art – to flexibility
Without the dream, the cost
is not enough,
you have to lose some soul
and given the dream, you’re worthily fed
To make a fine mobile
Like Galimoto
From scraps of wire and patience
To make a fine mobile,
to frame a dream of dawns
and heavens full of fun and expression.
To make a fine mobile, like Galimoto.
To make a fine mobile.
With care,
~ Ben

So much creativity with a little wire!
