What am I working on now? I think of it as Because of Winn Dixie meets How to Train Your Dragon.
Max is missing his grandpa who passed away earlier in the summer. Mom and Dad are preoccupied with the soon to arrive new baby and Max is flat out of ideas for his back to 4th grade school project. When a dragon follows him home from the last day of summer camp Max can’t believe his eyes. Aren’t dragons extinct?
No pets allowed is the rule in his home but wouldn’t a dragon make a good pet? Suspicious neighbors and a dragon’s appetite for garden flowers complicate matters. Do dragons eat chickens or steal wedding bands? Ash stands up to the school bully but can he be a school project? With the help of friends Emery and Beverly, Max must figure out how to save Ash from a life in the zoo or worse. Can a grumpy neighbor’s homing pigeons help?
It’s Covid but I am having fun stretching my imagination. Yes! Writing about a dragon is new territory for me. It takes research. Here are two of my favorite go-to authorities on dragons.
At 30,000 words I am rewriting and rewriting with Book Two of the Promise of Dragons taking shape. A project to carry me into the new year.

No one knows what the New Year will look like in this strange time but I will have Max and Ash to brighten 2021.
