Participation in The Walter Dean Myers Authors Panel with Dr. Rudine Bishop, Ms. Cheryl Willis Hudson, Mr. Raul Colon and Mr. Wade Hudson was an exhilarating experience.
Dr. Bishop is professor Emeritus of Education at The Ohio State University and is known for her scholarship of multicultural children’s literature. Cheryl and Wade Hudson are both authors and co-founders of Just Us Publishing. Raul Colon is an illustrator of over 30 books for children. What a sharing group. The panel was part of The Children’s Defense Fund week long training for the 2019 Freedom Schools across the country. I had the privilege to witness an enthusiastic, energetic and committed group of 1200 remarkable young people.
I came home with gratitude for the inspiration and with so much Hope for the Future.
